AI Literacy Training Course for Civil Servants (Train-the-trainer)

AI Literacy Training for Civil Servants
Empowering Civil Servants to navigate the opportunities and ethical dimensions of AI in the public sector.
UNESCO is launching a new AI Literacy Training initiative to strengthen understanding of AI ethics among civil servants around the world. A two-day “train-the-trainer” workshop will be held as a side event of the Global Forum on the Ethics of AI, to train members of the AI Ethics Experts Without Borders (AIEB) network to deliver capacity building courses to civil servants in 12 countries over the next 12 months.
The program is designed by the Center for AI and Digital Policy (CAIDP) in collaboration with UNESCO, and aims to enhance public sector capacity to procure, develop, implement, and oversee AI systems in line with the UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of AI, helping public institutions harness AI responsibly. This initiative is funded by the European Commission’s Directorate General for International Partnerships via the project Supporting Member States in implementing UNESCO's Recommendation on the Ethics of AI through Innovative Tools.
About AIEB

Policy and regulatory advice.
Tailored technical support.
Capacity-building missions using UNESCO tools such as the AI Readiness Assessment Methodology (RAM) and Ethical Impact Assessment (EIA).
UNESCO matches project requests from Member States with suitable AIEB experts and oversees each project’s terms of reference, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring high-quality, context-relevant outcomes that support ethical and effective AI development.
